MTEX is the dedicated export arm of Mehadrin, responsible for distributing Jaffa citrus, avocados, and Edom dates worldwide. Based in Israel, MTEX has aggressively expanded into European retail networks, ensuring Mehadrin’s settlement produce reaches shelves across the EU, UK, and beyond.
Mehadrin’s operations are deeply entangled with Israel’s settlement enterprise. The company grows, packages, and exports dates, avocados, and citrus fruits from land confiscated from Palestinians, while diverting scarce water resources to settlement farms. Palestinian workers, sometimes including children, are employed under coercive conditions, with limited rights and unsafe environments. These practices embed human rights violations directly into the supply chain.
Date exports, in particular, are a high-impact boycott target: during Ramadan, Israeli companies like Mehadrin flood international markets with dates cultivated in occupied territories, profiting from the symbolic and spiritual value of the fruit in Muslim culture. By sustaining the agricultural backbone of settlements, Mehadrin not only profits from apartheid but also strengthens the economic viability of Israel’s colonial expansion.
