Microsoft Corporation is one of the world’s largest technology companies, headquartered in Redmond, Washington. It dominates global computing through products like Windows, Office, Azure cloud services, and enterprise contracts with governments and corporations. With operations in over 190 countries and revenues exceeding $240 billion, Microsoft is a cornerstone of digital infrastructure worldwide.

But its reach comes with systemic harms. The company has been repeatedly criticized for anti-competitive practices, monopolistic control over software, and aggressive tax avoidance strategies. It has enabled surveillance and policing through contracts with U.S. immigration authorities, military agencies, and predictive policing projects, raising human rights concerns far beyond Palestine. Environmental watchdogs have flagged the massive energy demands of Azure data centres, while labour investigations have documented worker exploitation in its global supply chain and contract workforce.

Against this backdrop, Microsoft’s entanglement with Israel’s military and surveillance systems reflects a broader pattern: using its technological dominance to secure government contracts, even when they reinforce repression, inequality, and ecological harm.
